Well I was a health visitor until July last yr
Now I work as a specialist community nurse which is wonderful.

You don't have to tell me but I'm curious as to what your job is.

I used to have clinical depression too so I know what you're talking about. It's worse that psychosis because there is no hope whereas although you're mad, confused, frightened when you're psychotic, you do have hope.

I have support yes. I feel lucky in many ways re that.
Its nice to have new folk about.
I think you are right to some extent re folk who have been on the recieving end. Not always tho. I guess it kinda depends on your diagnosis too???

I know a fair bit re depression as had a severe depression yrs ago. Also I see a lot and end up supporting a lot in my job. I know less about other aspects of mental health though since Ruth became very unwell I have increased my knowledge,...

I am on another forum on another topic somewhere else and I know what you mean about building up friendships and about how lost you feel when people stop coming on.

I'm sure no-one minds that you're the relative and not the patient.

In my experience people who've been in the psychiatric hospital are sensitive and non-judgemental people too. I lost nearly all of my friends when I went into hospital and made new ones either in there or...

Thats ok.
I don't quite fit here being the relative not the patient but in the last 2yrs I have had some brilliant support and help in understanding what was going on and then people just to listen when the worst happened. People who used to frequent here were a lovely bunch, sensitive, non judgemental and I miss them

Sorry, I'm 36. Starbright47 is my username. I couldn't just use starbright because someone on Yuku already had that so I had to add some numbers. I didn't put my age because that will change and I will get confused. Instead I just put two other numbers.

Nice to hear about your budgies. Mine are called Apollo and Jupiter. They're little sweeties. They can devour a sprig of millett or a broccoli floret in one evening. I'm surprised they don't make themselves...

Hi there
I am 48. In UK. Never been in hospital for my mental health but visited them lots with my daughter who died last yr
I grew up surrounded by budgies!! My dad bred them. We had a yellow one in the house called Yogi who talked and bellyflopped into a bowl of tomato soup during one of his regular times out of his cage
It is too quiet here to be that supportive right now but hope it will improve
